| The people of East Feliciana Parrish, Louisiana take a lot of pride
in their communities. And I think rightfully so. This is beautiful
country inhabited by beautiful people. I've found that the closer to the Mississippi River you get, the older the communities you find. This just goes to show that this part of the country was settled from the river banks outward. One of the more famous of these river towns is St. Francisville, Louisiana. St. Francisville is rich with history and there is much for the visitor to see and do. But just go a few miles east and you'll reach Jackson, Louisiana. Jackson is equally rich in things one would find interesting.
When you reach Jackson, go five miles north on Louisiana Highway 952
and you'll find the Pecan Ridge Park. This camp ground is open year
round. But three times each year, May, July, and September, you'll
find the Pecan Ridge Bluegrass festival. I've spent over ten years
going to Mississippi and Louisiana bluegrass festivals and find this to be
one of the best of the best. The park is one of the nicest and best
laid out I've seen. The stage area is centrally located in easy
walking distance from all of the campsites. There is a very large and comfortable
warm up room behind the stage for the bands. This building is also
used for the New Years get together. There are nice clean rest rooms
and shower facilities. There's one of the most complete concessions
I've seen. They usually serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They
offer much more than just burgers and soft drinks. |
